The Turkish ready mixed concrete sector is quite new when compared to other countries. Established in 1988, Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB) is a sectoral organization that has been trying for 32 years to popularize the production and use of quality, correct, environmentally friendly and sustainable concrete, which is necessary for the construction of safe and durable structures in our country. The companies that will be members of our Association make production in accordance with the standards in all ready-mixed concrete facilities, and obtain a KGS Certificate of Conformity, subject to the continuous unannounced inspections of the Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association KGS Economic Enterprise (KGS); having a suitable laboratory; technical, environmental, occupational health and safety, legal and ethical criteria must be fulfilled completely.

Thanks to the tens of scientific congresses, fairs and hundreds of technical seminars we have organized, our KGS system, which is one of the first and perhaps the most successful example of sectoral self-control in Turkey, our Building Materials Laboratory that has become serving the whole world, our Vocational Competence Center that increases the human resource power of our industry, and our trainings. While raising the technological and scientific level of our industry, we contribute greatly to the production of quality concrete in our country and, in direct proportion to this, to quality construction. Representing our country in all national and international platforms, we continue to follow the developments concerning our sector and shape the policies with the European Ready Mixed Concrete Association (ERMCO), of which we are a member. As THBB, we became a member of the Switzerland-based Concrete Sustainability Council and now we have brought the highest level of certification model to our country in terms of our industry in the world.

Turkey, which met ready-mixed concrete 70 years after Europe, has an important place in the world with its ready-mixed concrete production today. While 1.5 million cubic meters of concrete was produced annually in our country in 1988 when our association was founded, the production amount has increased in recent years and reached the peak with 115 million cubic meters of production in 2017. With the slowdown in the construction sector in recent years, there has been a contraction in concrete production and 67 million cubic meters of concrete was produced in 2019. 65% of ready mixed concrete production in Turkey is carried out by our members. Although this rate is quite high, we do not consider it sufficient. We aim to inspect all concrete produced in our country in order to ensure safe construction.
